About this outing

The Egypt Centre welcomes visitors of all ages to its House of Life and House of Death galleries. Admission is free and ordinary visits do not need advance booking. Coffins, amulets and everyday objects can be combined with hands-on public activities and a first-floor play area. It opens Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–4pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday. Check national-holiday opening with the museum. The museum is in the Taliesin building on Swansea University’s Singleton Campus, within the official Sketty visitor itinerary.

Planning your visit

  • During school term time a school may visit Tuesday–Friday between 10am and 2pm. Phone 01792 295960 to check for a quieter visit.
  • There is a lift, with a ramp alternative to the first floor if the lift is out of service; ask museum staff. Baby changing is in the ground-floor accessible toilet and first-floor ambulant toilet.
  • There is no weekday campus parking. The nearest suggested car park is the council Pay & Display at Pub on the Pond. On Saturdays, register your car with the museum on arrival for free parking when making a museum visit or attending a free event; paid museum events incur parking charges.
  • No flash photography. Do not photograph children, staff or volunteers without consent. Commercial photography/filming needs museum permission.
