Black Heritage Walks Network leads a two-hour walk through Handsworth, sharing stories of the African, Caribbean, Black-American and Black-British people who shaped the area.
Things to do with kids in Handsworth
Handsworth offers a practical mix of outdoor play, swimming and neighbourhood family support. Start with the playgrounds and tree-lined paths in Handsworth Park, then choose a suitable adult-and-child session at the Wellbeing Centre or a book stop on Soho Road. The best plan is a small one: one main activity, a realistic toilet stop and time to get between venues. Registered Seven Up holiday play and the Rookery and Soho family hubs offer different kinds of support, while individually advertised community gatherings add something special to the calendar.
Pair Handsworth Park’s playgrounds with a suitable small-pool swim or a Soho Road book stop. Check session bookings, toilet plans and holiday operation before travelling.
