About this outing
Young people aged 12 and over can join adults for an afternoon exploring local plants and making herbal tea. Meet at The Up Garden, Eric Close, E7 0AY, at 2pm on Monday 26 October 2026. The group walks to Forest Gate Community Garden at 136 Earlham Grove, E7 9AD, looking at plants that are often overlooked. NHS plant prescriber Alex Laird and artist Emma Smith lead activities about plants and health, before participants select ingredients, prepare teas and share recipes and traditions. The event finishes at 4.30pm. It is free; use the organiser’s Eventbrite page for tickets. Under-16s must remain with an adult. Wear weather-appropriate clothes and suitable shoes for the outdoor activities and short walk along local roads. This is not medical advice: only consume plants whose identity and suitability have been confirmed by the workshop leaders.
