About this outing

The Hunterian Museum in the Gilbert Scott Building is free to enter and open Tuesday–Sunday 10am–5pm. Displays include the Bearsden Shark, gems, fossils and dinosaurs, Roman settlement along the Antonine Wall, Lord Kelvin’s scientific instruments and the history of medicine. Families can pick up a family trail or try the Creative Corner. Children’s portable steps and stools are available. The museum has lift access and accessible toilets with baby change; staff assistance is needed to operate the lift to the balcony. Young neurodivergent visitors can request sensory bags, and a wheelchair-accessible wee calm-space play tent is available. A visual storybook helps families prepare. This is a public museum on the Gilmorehill campus, not a student-only teaching collection. Check the owner’s notices before travelling. Weekday campus parking is permit-only; Blue Badge visitors must register for a visitor permit.
