About this outing
Bandstand Beds is a volunteer-run community garden on Windmill Drive, where local people grow food together. Its Saturday visitor window offers a chance to see the growing space and produce stall. This is a working garden rather than a playground: tools, a pond and other hazards mean children need continuous supervision by their own parent or guardian. Gardening sessions are separate from a visitor stop and require BBA membership; activities are not always suitable for children.
Planning your visit
- Use the Saturday 10am–midday visitor window; this is not unrestricted access to the garden throughout the week. Stop at the gate and ask a BBA member about access. Do not enter if no BBA members are present.
- Contact BBA in advance before bringing children to a gardening session. Children under 18 must stay with their own parent or guardian, who is responsible for supervising them around the tools, pond and other hazards.
- Taking part in gardening requires BBA membership. Saturday gardening members are asked to attend the whole 9.30am–1pm session; children’s activities are not guaranteed.
