Loughborough Junction with children: park play, adventure play and baby groups

Loughborough Junction gives families a choice between an easy park outing and more structured play. Wyck Gardens has a children’s playground, open space and a games area for ball games. At the Grove, registered children aged 6–16 can climb, swing and build under the supervision of playworkers; it is independent play rather than a parent-and-toddler session. For younger children, Loughborough Children’s Centre on Minet Road offers drop-in baby and stay-and-play groups. Choose the park for a flexible visit, check the centre’s current timetable, or register with the Grove before setting out.

Choose between park play and adventure play

Wyck Gardens is the flexible outdoor option: a children’s playground, open space, meadow grassland and a community orchard. The multi-use games area offers space for football and other ball games. The park is open 24 hours, with its listed address on Millbrook Road and an eastern entrance onto Loughborough Road.

The Grove is a different kind of visit. Children aged 6–16 can climb, swing, build and explore with playworkers supervising. Sessions are free, but children must register before their first session and then attend independently. A full session may have a waiting list, so check the current schedule and capacity before making plans.

A smaller outing with babies and toddlers

Loughborough Children’s Centre on Minet Road offers three different small outings. Stay and Play gives children aged 0–4 time to play and learn alongside their parent or carer. Little Green Fingers, also for ages 0–4, takes play outdoors to explore plants and natural materials. Baby and Me is for babies aged 0–14 months: a relaxed session with singing at the end. Bring a towel, as it can get messy.

The centre’s operator advertises these groups as drop-in sessions. Register your family with Better Start before first use, and check the current timetable with the centre before travelling. Stay and Play and Little Green Fingers are listed at 09:45–11:15; Baby and Me is listed at 10:00–11:30. Call 020 7274 8374 to check current running dates.

October half-term at the Grove

The Grove advertises its half-term play scheme for 26–29 October 2026, 10:30–15:30. It is free for registered children aged 6–16, who attend independently. Use the organiser’s scheme page to arrange registration and check capacity.

Check registration and capacity directly with the Grove before sending your child. For babies and toddlers, contact the children’s centre about holiday running dates before setting out.
